Sherwin Williams Alabaster Exterior

One of the top reasons I was motivated to start this blog was the difficulty I had making paint decisions for our house due to inability to see the colors I was interested in on other houses. For example, despite Sherwin Williams Alabaster being the 2016 color of the year for the company, I still couldn’t find more than a handful of photos of it in use online. Come on, internet!

We decided to use Sherwin Williams Alabaster on the outside of our house and a large share of our interior walls, despite having few examples of it in use. We even held white paint swatches up to other houses to try to determine what shade of white they used. Choosing the right white is no small feat and is surprisingly stressful. We didn’t want it to be too bright, too dull, too yellow or too gray.

Our exterior painters finished up last week, so here are photos of the exterior of our house in Sherwin Williams Alabaster 7008! We are thrilled with how it turned out! It is definitely all white but not overly harsh. Highly recommend!

I will post more photos as the house gets closer to completion and will also do a post on Sherwin Williams Alabaster on our interior walls. Hope this helps you!

Other colors:
Minwax Jacobean on the 6 French doors
Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black on the front doors and friend’s porch
Shingles age a charcoal and black mix
Gutters are black

  1. We are using alabaster as well. Do you find it needs an accent color like for the fascia or doors so everything’s not so white? We were thinking urbane bronze for the doors.

    1. It's just shaded. I'm sure it's the same color.

  4. Thank you so much for this we too we’re having a hard time deciding which white to use and alabaster seems to be perfect based off your photos are you in an area where you get a lot of sunlight also the black color that you used on your doors could you also use that for the facia‘s trim and the roof we’re having our Mediterranean home the roof tiles restored and we wanted to paint it black.
